Diving in and Making our NicheĪfter a rather lengthy introduction to the game, where we hopped on different devices in the house (Roblox can be played on all devices, from smartphones to home consoles) and collaboratively joined servers to play instances of my kids' favorite games, I realized that Roblox is also my new favorite gaming platform. It's with this open mind that I approached Roblox, allowing my kids to usher me into this world of doges and lego-based avatars.

From digital replicas of Paris to mind-bending puzzlers created with limited game resources, I fondly recall spending hours exploring the creativity of others. When humans are left at peace to be creative, some of the most amazing experiences can be produced. While I initially felt like an 'old woman' jumping into a kid's game, I recalled my experiences in my 20's diving into a similar virtual experience, Second Life. The game is moderated for content and language, providing a safe experience for children, and fun space to be creative for adults.

With tools for creation including a full game production studio and in-game tools for monetization and marketing, it's a 'learn-at-your-own-pace' game design platform as well. Donning an online avatar, users can jump into worlds created by other Robloxians (the name 'locals' use) ages 5-99.
